The Well-Versed ProjectIn a Nutshell
Well-Versed is a project that aims to provide the literature community on deviantART with easily accessible definitions/explanations/examples of various literary elements and tools for poetry. The aim of this project is not to teach the literature community how the rules can be broken, but first how to use the tools to your advantage in your own work. After all, you can't effectively break a rule unless you know what it is and how to use it first! While the focus here is primarily on poetry, these techniques and elements of poetry are also applicable to the prose world as well, so do not hesitate to use the information you find here in that fashion as well. The idea is to inspire you to incorporate tried-and-true (and certainly never tired!) literary elements and broaden your personal poetic database.
Entries/Contests/Suggestions
All the chosen poetic elements/tools will be submitted as separate deviations. Periodical contests may be held, but most likely (unless otherwise donated), the prizes will be literature-based including such things as (but not limited to): features, requests, and critiques. You may certainly make suggestions for tools to be written about by note to this account. Subject heading should be "Technique Suggestion". You are encouraged to also note this account with any work you do that employs the method in question (preferably works submitted after the tool was written about). Subject heading should be "Attempted ____" with the blank stating the technique you employed. Periodically, lit deviations that made good use of literary elements will be featured. You may make suggestions by noting this account with the Subject heading "Feature Suggestion". If you have any other questions, queries or suggestions, send a note with a specific subject heading and you will be responded to eventually.General Rules and Information
This project operates entirely on constructive criticism. If your comments are not constructive, they will not be appreciated, and therefore will be ignored/deleted and you may be blocked/reported depending on the severity of the situation. So please, do everyone a favour and be courteous and kind!
Note: Trustworthy volunteers may be at one point sought if the traffic here becomes too heavy for one person to manage. You will be updated prior to this occurring so that you may apply for a position if you so desire.
